Bedsores are the most widespread problem at elderly or recumbent patients. Bedsores are areas of avascularisation and tissues death, occurring because of their constant squeezing between the bed surface and human skeleton.

Quite often bedsores are formed when a person is lying on the back or a side for a long time. At lying on the back bedsores appear on the occiput, in the area of shoulder-blades, tailbone, buttocks and heels.

In the early stages the areas of skin in these places swell and redden. Then the skin starts to peel off with thin pellicles. Exposed deeper skin layers release sanies and sores may appear in some time. This is a very fruitful ground for reproduction of bacteria because of pus on the bedsores. In this case a person cannot always complain about formation of bedsores, as in most cases they do not cause pain. Therefore, constant care for recumbent patients is important very much.
